Making the Most of a Health Fair

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL REFLEXOLOGY BOOTH

Health fairs, wellness expos, and community events can put reflexology in front of people who may never have experienced it before. Whether it is your first event or your fiftieth, a little preparation can help turn a busy booth into meaningful conversations and new connections.

BEFORE THE EVENT

Before registering, ask the event organizer a few important questions:

💚 Are reflexology therapists permitted to charge for demonstrations or sessions?

💚 Is professional liability insurance required?

💚 How much space is provided?

💚 Are tables and chairs supplied?

💚 Is electricity available?

💚 Are there restrictions on signage or product sales?

Review your professional liability insurance to ensure you’re covered for providing reflexology demonstrations at public events.

If you plan to hand out brochures, business cards, or promotional items, order them well in advance. Last-minute printing often costs more and may not arrive on time.

Finally, consider wearing RAC or reflexology-branded apparel. A professional appearance helps visitors identify you easily and reinforces confidence in your practice. You can find Reflexology apparel at ReflexologyStore.ca.

DURING THE EVENT

Keep demonstrations to approximately 5–10 minutes so more visitors can experience reflexology.

Even though demonstrations are brief, informed consent is still important. RAC members have access to the Health Show Client Health Record and Consent Form, which includes a brief health history, informed consent, media consent, and therapist notes. Using appropriate documentation demonstrates professionalism while helping you identify situations where a demonstration may not be appropriate.

Focus on educating rather than selling. Ask visitors if they’ve experienced reflexology before, explain what to expect, and avoid making claims about treating or curing medical conditions.

AFTER THE EVENT

Follow up with anyone who expressed interest or booked an appointment while your conversation is still fresh in their mind.

Take a few minutes to evaluate the event:

💚 How many demonstrations did you provide?

💚 How many contacts did you collect?

💚 Did you book appointments?

💚 Would you participate in this event again?

Every event is an opportunity to build awareness of reflexology and strengthen your community.
