👣💚 New Reflexology Research: Supporting Comfort Du 👣💚 New Reflexology Research: Supporting Comfort During Labour
Could foot reflexology help support women during labour? A recent randomized controlled trial studied 70 women in labour, with half receiving foot reflexology and half receiving standard care.
.
The findings? 👀
.
Women who received foot reflexology experienced:
👣 Lower pain scores during the active and transition phases of labour
💚 Greater comfort during the latent and active phases
✨ More frequent calm and controlled behaviour
.
The researchers concluded that foot reflexology was associated with reduced labour pain and improved comfort during the first stage of labour, suggesting it may be a useful non-pharmacological supportive approach during labour.
.
Research like this continues to build our understanding of where reflexology may fit within supportive and complementary care. 💚
.
🤰 If you or someone you love will be giving birth soon, consider finding a Registered Canadian Reflexology Therapist (RCRT™) for additional support during labour.
